"AI acting as a trauma counselor specializing in abuse"
This seems profoundly unethical. Pretending to be a mental health professional and giving advice is antisocial behavior regardless of whether you are doing it yourself or telling an AI to do it.

"Some high-level examples of how AI was deployed include:

- AI pretending to be a victim of rape.

- AI acting as a trauma counselor specializing in abuse.

- AI accusing members of a religious group of "caus[ing] the deaths of hundreds of innocent people."
It's too soon to tell, but we would not be surprised if this story started getting media attention soon.

Researchers at the University of Zurich used AI-based accounts to try and manipulate users without seeking consent or informing the community.

I don’t think you should let an AI do that man

Thank you for this. And when the victim is a child, it is also a form to child abuse to force them to be pregnant and physically live out the result of their rape.

I worked with those kids in my role as a rape crisis counselor. I still struggle to find the words to describe the trauma.

It is very weird as both a certified rape crisis/DV counselor and person who once wrote an essay about “sexual microaggressions” that talked about how seemingly minor violations can still cause deep and lasting trauma to be told by strangers that I love abusers and think abuse is great

I mean quite frankly, as a survivor and rape/DV counselor: there are far worse things than being abused and landing softly in the embrace of people who support you and help address your trauma. Avoiding all abuse is much harder than accessing healing after abuse.

I've worked with survivors of abuse as a counselor, so I can speak to this. People who have experienced trauma at a young age sometimes do behave that same age when they're under further trauma at an older age. This applies to all kinds of trauma. So you're somewhat correct.

So, researchers at the University of Zurich (who ironically, "ask not to be identified" unleashed a bot into a Reddit feed to "pretend to be a victim of rape," "Act as a trauma counselor specializing in rape," "posed as a Black man opposed to BLM."
Very very shady behavior.

This PTSD trauma specialist mental health counselor says it is one giant abuse system. DARVO (see wikipedia), enablers, flying monkeys, all of it. Sickening.

I got my BA in psychology, specializing in sexuality, loss, and trauma.
I was a domestic abuse counselor for two years at Planned Parenthood.
Everything that is happening is things we've been warning about for years.
It's MADDENING.

Yeah, it's so bad

And reading their expanded abstract, they have no idea what they're doing

So no surprise if they did all this unethical shit and then don't even publish

The worst part imo:

When a prominent doctor and outspoken advocate for child abuse victims is murdered, trauma counselor and amateur sleuth Stacie Maroni can’t help but wonder if there’s more to the tragedy than meets the eye.

Thank you, I'm so sorry about your dad!💔 I think what's helped to keep my dad sober is he was a counselor for the majority of his career for other Veterans. To be able to share his story daily, both his substance abuse & war trauma, to help others was a huge help to his own sobriety.
