Not a bad place for a coffee. Crantock Beach on the north Cornish coast is a spectacular golden-sandy stretch with high dunes up to the land and often fantastic waves for surfers off the shore.

Much of Cornwall’s north coast consists of moody, rugged cliffs, topped with yellow gorse and heather. Yet, at Crantock the fields roll gently to the cliff edge and the coast unfurls before you like a living map. A great place to walk. 😊

I took this photo at Crantock, Cornwall. I loved how a couple of the poppies stood proud above the others, like parents overseeing their offspring. To get the shot, I lay down in the field to capture them from below. 🌺

A favourite coast walk of mine back home in Cornwall is from Poly Joke to Crantock. In the spring, the fields are filled with the reds of poppies and yellows of rapeseed. As we head into June, the greens and pinks of the headland sit calmly with the gentle, turquoise sea. 😊

Sometimes, the waters around Cornwall look, well, tropical. It's only when you dip your toe in the water and watch it turn an even deeper blue that you realise where you are. This is the view coming into Crantock on the SW Coast Path.

Crantock beach. When I took this shot, I was drawn by the colour of the dunes in the foreground and how it complimented the colours of the sand and the ocean. I had the whole beach to myself and it was a perfect place of solitude. 😊
