A lot of my infra workflows live in Slack threads, docs, or buried in shell history. That sucked.

I've been building Atuin Desktop. Local-first, CRDT-powered, executable runbooks - with integrated terminals, sql queries + monitoring

Always nice to hear about apps using an algorithm we developed – in this case a tree CRDT with move operation (martin.kleppmann.com/papers/move-...). Thanks @avelino.run for the shout-out! outl.app/blog/outl-be...

The experiments that @jakelazaroff.com is doing around CRDT syncing and WebRTC signaling is pointing towards a future where the PDS is a server-based user agent. There's no reason that the PDS needs to be limited to storing static data.
new proof of concept: ATProtoCall! video calling over atproto with just static files and no dedicated signaling or streaming infrastructure.

Something that I've been up to recently: a block-wise fractional index CRDT. While block split-merge semantics are not new (we use it in Yjs), combining them with fractional indexes is a novel thing.

ok I think I've really got this working.
- rich text CRDT (peritext-based)
- movable blocks with split & join, retaining provenance and collaborative editing
- strong cycle prevention both for split/join and block nesting
annnd just for fun I've also implemented multicursor in the demo (cmd+click)

Excited to share our ICDT 2025 paper on a theoretical framework to connect CRDTs and the CALM Theorem! We formalize the intuitions given in the Keep CALM and CRDT On work about the gap between CRDT guarantees and monotonic queries. arxiv.org/pdf/2502.00222
