This is a very cool talk. If you're at all involved in making apps regardless of ecosystem... it's a must watch!

Would you rather pay for a straightforward tool that runs locally, or use a "free" cooking app that monetizes your habits and inventory?

Building Kitchen Concordance on the belief that cookbook collections belong on-device, not in the cloud.

I built Kitchen Concordance for cookbooks, but as a longtime homebrewer, I pointed it at my brewing shelf.

Now I can search hop profiles and grain bills across physical pages.

Bonus Galaxy Kettle Sour pic.

Finding dinner on your physical cookbook shelf shouldn't require trading your habits to a cloud server.

Building Kitchen Concordance: paid software, not an ad network. The app runs local-first, keeping your bookshelf data strictly yours.

Follow along here as it comes together.

As of tonight I don't have a price tag.

No accounts, no plans, no credits — every feature for everyone, on your own API keys or a local model through Ollama or LM Studio. You pay your provider directly; nobody sits in the middle.

I've been posting a coding agent for three weeks. True, but incomplete. One memory: the file you're scared of, Thursday's plan, the paper you couldn't get through. Same store, on your machine. A tool that knows your repo and nothing else is an assistant to a job, not a life. #localfirst
