Update:

Crossfile under: Things that make me happy
When Canadians found out that Kristi Noem was helping push a copper venture in BC people rose up. The phone lines of the company were jammed. The stock price crashed.
The company lost so much value they had to change their name.
FAFO.
We aren't kidding around.

…With Maryland state law, a very timely bill indeed given how many Virginia plates located in Md. will expire this year & not be eligible for renewal (& not just in my building’s parking lot, either). No fiscal note for either crossfile just yet; as w/ the House floor session volume levels, a WIP…

HB 339 passed the House in 2025 101-39 but like previous iterations of the bill, failed to advance any further. Hopefully for myself & my fellow apartment dwellers, at least from June to Oct., having a Sen. (GOP) crossfile can change things mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/L...

Next, 7 bills out of Environment & Transportation. HB 707 from @jheanellew.bsky.social, aka “Eric’s ID Law”, isn’t *listed* as a direct crossfile of SB 618 but if it walks like a crossfile, talks like a crossfile, & is filed from the same district as a crossfile…: mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/L...

But still including SB 496 from Sen. Stephen Hershey Jr. & HB 813 from @ashantimartinez.bsky.social in Health (How's THAT for a crossfile combo?) ('25's SB 876/HB 1489)...

me with the reminder about carrots yesterday 🥲 i have to crossfile it under, "no, you cannot power through" and "never ever worth it"

HB 10/SB 64 passed the House last year 139-0 as HB 74 but didn't advance any further in the Senate. Hopefully that'll change with the addition of a Senate crossfile this year...

It starts off edgier than people remember. Brandy's poor dog gets shot in crossfire GRAPICALLY in the second issue.

Yeah it’s usually just the one in Annapolis. Good to have a crossfile, occasionally you’ll de facto have a 2-3 primary sponsor bill (Though even there you nominally only have 1 primary sponsor), any number of co-sponsors are allowed but that’s it.

Any Linux OS good at obsessive archiving and fast retrieval of millions of files in thousands of directories? Filenames stick to Window standards but get long. I want meta tags, quick media playback, thumbnails, etc. as much crossfile accessibility as possible

Decade long TTRPG hobby filing

That'd be HB 256 from MDOT, the "Vulnerable Road User Protection Act of 2026", which would allow the SHA to place & use speed cameras on segments of highway it identifies as "safety corridors): mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/L... (Actually I'm pretty sure this IS the unmarked crossfile to SB 487)
February 13, 2026 at 9:59 PM
Alright, on to Education, Energy, & the Environment. Technically SB 50 from Sen. Mary Beth Carozza, the "Fairness in Girls' Sports Act", isn't listed as a crossfile of an earlier bill from Del. Kathy Szeliga but it looks pretty similar. Not even fully featuring it...

HB 1232 passed the House last week 121-7 (0 of those 7 from Baltimore City, only 1 from a City-bordering district) while its crossfile, SB 756 from Sen. Cory McCray, passed the Senate last week 45-0, w/ the biggest amendment on it being to make it an emergency bill, meaning it takes immediate effect
March 24, 2026 at 5:21 PM
HB 437's crossfile, SB 59 from Sen. Shelly Hettleman, has not passed out of B&T, at least not so far. That said, a 2024 version of this bill was one Stephen Hershey de facto filibuster away from becoming law so it's got a shot, especially after House amendments hopefully cleared up some concerns...
March 24, 2026 at 5:10 PM
(Ps I did notice that your bill has a Senate crossfile now and a pretty good sponsor to have in all honesty: Senate Majority Leader/ex-Budget & Taxation Chair Nancy King. I won’t admit to being her biggest fan but she is pretty powerful & influential so that doesn’t hurt at all.

Finance only has 3 bills to hear today, 1 of which I’ve already covered the crossfile for & the other 2 are a little too dry even for me. B&T’s doing a DDA budget briefing today so that just leaves Judicial Proceedings on the Senate side of things…
January 23, 2025 at 4:51 PM
SB 344 did have a crossfile, HB 341 from @sheilaruth.com, but it doesn’t appear to have made it across to B&T. But because SB 344 passed the Senate last mo. 45-0, (w/ only a few amendments mainly changing a couple “shalls” for local gov. to “mays”), W&M gets another go w/ it…
March 19, 2025 at 7:35 PM
Finally for Thurs., SB 152 c/o Sen. Chris West, the crossfile of HB 89 c/oDel. Elizabeth Embry (still awaiting a JUD date) & revival of '24's SB 17/HB 667 (17 passed the Senate & got to 2nd reader in the House on Sine Die, 667 only got to Rules): mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/L...

Next another bill from @jazzformaryland.bsky.social w/ a crossfile that didn’t clear the Senate. In this case, the crossfile was SB 683 from Sen. Nick Charles & its so far more successful counterpart is HB 1424, the “Protect Our Federal Workers Act”*: mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/L....
April 1, 2025 at 11:02 PM
HB 432 from Del. Bernice Mireku-North & SB 463 from Sen. C. Anthony Muse (JPR, tbd) would, like HB 734, which passed the House 104-36, repeal Maryland municipalities' authority to prohibit vagrancy: mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/L... mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/L...

Make that 1/4 of the "CHERISH Our Communities Act" as SB 780/HB 1287 appear to share that alternate title w/ another bill from Sen. Brooks, SB 781 & its crossfile from @behler-dylan.bsky.social in E&T next Wed.: mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/L... mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/L...

SB 302 from Sen. Mary Beth Carozza is the "Women's Freedom from Coercion Act", banning people from causing, either via force or trickery, people they know or believe are pregnant to ingest "abortion-inducing drugs": mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/L.... IOW, an anti-abortion messaging bill*.
