Update:

Crossfile under: Things that make me happy
When Canadians found out that Kristi Noem was helping push a copper venture in BC people rose up. The phone lines of the company were jammed. The stock price crashed.
The company lost so much value they had to change their name.
FAFO.
We aren't kidding around.

I'm left wondering why Felon 34/47 and his Department of Injustice didn't crossfile a 'rightful death lawsuit' here since he fully detests minorities and they will stop at nothing?

HB 1232 passed the House last week 121-7 (0 of those 7 from Baltimore City, only 1 from a City-bordering district) while its crossfile, SB 756 from Sen. Cory McCray, passed the Senate last week 45-0, w/ the biggest amendment on it being to make it an emergency bill, meaning it takes immediate effect
March 24, 2026 at 5:21 PM
HB 437's crossfile, SB 59 from Sen. Shelly Hettleman, has not passed out of B&T, at least not so far. That said, a 2024 version of this bill was one Stephen Hershey de facto filibuster away from becoming law so it's got a shot, especially after House amendments hopefully cleared up some concerns...
March 24, 2026 at 5:10 PM
Actually cutting E&T down to 4 bills from yesterday because I realized I already covered one of the ones I was going to feature when its crossfile was heard last month...
March 14, 2026 at 7:45 PM
...Making it less surprising that SB 969 from Sen. Mautz had no co-sponsors* or that its crossfile, HB 1375 from Del. Seth Howard over in Health, only had GOP ones: mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/L... mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/L...

Make that 1/4 of the "CHERISH Our Communities Act" as SB 780/HB 1287 appear to share that alternate title w/ another bill from Sen. Brooks, SB 781 & its crossfile from @behler-dylan.bsky.social in E&T next Wed.: mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/L... mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/L...
March 4, 2026 at 8:04 PM
Finally for E&T yesterday, HB 1113 from @robbynlewis46th.bsky.social & SB 936 from Sen. Chris West* in JPR next Wed. (2025’s HB 206) would, aot, ban people from placing their vehicles in bus stop zones if buses are present: mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/L... mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/L...
February 27, 2026 at 9:48 PM
Next, 5 from Finance. I can't say I trust SB 485 from Sen. Mary Beth Carozza or its crossfile from Del. Susan McComas in Health next mo., HB 1451: mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/L... mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/L...
February 19, 2026 at 9:57 PM
Next, yet another bill w/ a crossfile from Del. Jared Solomon, SB 495 from Sen. Shelly Hettleman (HB 1055 goes before GLE next mo.): mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/L... mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/L.... This bill would require MDH to screen for Gaucher disease in its Newborn Screening Program.
February 18, 2026 at 7:22 PM
On to 5 from Finance, including a wage transparency bill for firefighters, SB 445 ('25's SB 124) from Sen. Ben Kramer, the crossfile of HB 532 from Del. Jared Solomon in GLE tomorrow: mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/L... mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/L.... '25's HB 205 passed the House fwiw.
February 18, 2026 at 7:17 PM
Alright, on to Education, Energy, & the Environment. Technically SB 50 from Sen. Mary Beth Carozza, the "Fairness in Girls' Sports Act", isn't listed as a crossfile of an earlier bill from Del. Kathy Szeliga but it looks pretty similar. Not even fully featuring it...
February 18, 2026 at 6:53 PM
Skipping over Health because the one highlight there had its bill hearing the same day as its crossfile in EEE…
February 18, 2026 at 2:06 AM
But still including SB 496 from Sen. Stephen Hershey Jr. & HB 813 from @ashantimartinez.bsky.social in Health (How's THAT for a crossfile combo?) ('25's SB 876/HB 1489)...
February 17, 2026 at 5:20 PM
That'd be HB 256 from MDOT, the "Vulnerable Road User Protection Act of 2026", which would allow the SHA to place & use speed cameras on segments of highway it identifies as "safety corridors): mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/L... (Actually I'm pretty sure this IS the unmarked crossfile to SB 487)
February 13, 2026 at 9:59 PM
Actually make that one JUD highlight since I actually covered HB 389 yesterday alongside its crossfile, SB 296...
February 5, 2026 at 9:43 PM
SB 302 from Sen. Mary Beth Carozza is the "Women's Freedom from Coercion Act", banning people from causing, either via force or trickery, people they know or believe are pregnant to ingest "abortion-inducing drugs": mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/L.... IOW, an anti-abortion messaging bill*.
February 5, 2026 at 7:02 PM
HB 432 from Del. Bernice Mireku-North & SB 463 from Sen. C. Anthony Muse (JPR, tbd) would, like HB 734, which passed the House 104-36, repeal Maryland municipalities' authority to prohibit vagrancy: mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/L... mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/L...
February 3, 2026 at 9:33 PM
(Ps I did notice that your bill has a Senate crossfile now and a pretty good sponsor to have in all honesty: Senate Majority Leader/ex-Budget & Taxation Chair Nancy King. I won’t admit to being her biggest fan but she is pretty powerful & influential so that doesn’t hurt at all.

HB 10/SB 64 passed the House last year 139-0 as HB 74 but didn't advance any further in the Senate. Hopefully that'll change with the addition of a Senate crossfile this year...
January 22, 2026 at 5:17 PM
HB 339 passed the House in 2025 101-39 but like previous iterations of the bill, failed to advance any further. Hopefully for myself & my fellow apartment dwellers, at least from June to Oct., having a Sen. (GOP) crossfile can change things mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/L...

…With Maryland state law, a very timely bill indeed given how many Virginia plates located in Md. will expire this year & not be eligible for renewal (& not just in my building’s parking lot, either). No fiscal note for either crossfile just yet; as w/ the House floor session volume levels, a WIP…
