A good how it started/how it's going from the ED of CycleToronto here

NEW: CycleToronto and other citizens have launched a Charter challenge of the Ford government's law to remove bike lanes. CT's executive director is not present at the Queen's Park announcement because... he was doored on Monday in a painted bike lane and is hospitalized.

NEW: Looks like CycleToronto won in court. Justice Schabas finds Ontario's law (AND version 2) to remove bike lanes infringe S7 of the Charter and is not saved by S1, in large part because the govt had no evidence to back up its claims.

Huge thanks to the four Toronto universities who have, at my request, thrown their weight and expertise behind Toronto's bike lanes: @UofT, University of St. Michael’s College, @CityBuildingTMU and @OCAD . @YorkUniversity , where are you? @CycleToronto @TO_Cycling_Ped

Reminder that Ontario Court of Appeal judges are federal not provincial appointees.

re: CycleToronto, Huscroft appointed by Harper. Fairburn* and Zarnett appointed to the Court of Appeal by Trudeau. The opinion was unanimous.

*Fairburn named to Superior Court by Harper, elevated by Trudeau

That Canada is Not For Sale hat really did come right off after the election 🫠

Can someone ask if he's aware it was citizens who filed the injunction to stop the removal of bike lanes, and they have a right to do so?? 🥴

Hey folks in the Toronto area. There’s a big protest against Ontario’s own Trump, the epically corrupt #DougFord, who has gotten away with SO MUCH, it’s jaw dropping. If you’re able, head to Queen’s Park, Saturday March 28 at noon. #Onpoli

I swear that the first time one of these abominations gets even slightly in my way I'm knocking it into the street to be promptly squashed by a wanktank the driver of which can't see it over their hood. This is my advance confession of intent.

Humans should not be forced off pavements by delivery robots, but that's exactly what's happening.

The people who pay the price are those with the least room to give it up.

When I explain to people how I rode with multiple Consulate Generals across Toronto on bikes, showed off all of our cycling infrastructure, but it was Shaw Street that they were most impressed with.

They asked, Why we don’t have streets like this ALL OVER TORONTO?

My Answer: Lack of #PoliticalWill

"Michael Longfield, executive director of the cycling advocacy group CycleToronto, placed the blame for the unconnected bike lanes on the province, but also said the city lost an opportunity by choosing to wait."
How the Crosstown LRT helped kill the city’s decade-long plan for a bike lane along Eglinton Avenue
Initially proposed in 2014, a complete cycling corridor along Eglinton Avenue will now not be built.
