I only worked in one Oracle shop. The DBAs seemed ok with it and I luckily didn’t have to go near it.

This is exactly the kind of operational insight that saves production databases. It's great that 5.5.0 finally drops the default superuser requirement for the background worker to enforce least-privilege, but that breaking change is an absolute landmine for DBAs. Thanks for the heads up!"

Self hosting is not a cloud stack with training wheels removed. Muhammad Aqeel shows why signed packages and air gapped installs matter. DBAs call that PRODUCTION.\nhttps://postgr.es/p/9u_

We surveyed 300 DBAs, SREs and platform engineers on today’s database pressures. Across cost, performance, compliance and AI, one theme stood out: flexibility.

Postgres makes you choose what to record BEFORE the incident. Ryan Booz explains why SQL Server DBAs should enable pg_stat_statements and useful logs early. Otherwise the next outage brings theories not answers.\nhttps://postgr.es/p/9uZ

I design databases, and often troubleshoot issues in production when DBAs are stumped. I obtain permission to do so, and avoid queries showing personal information, looking at general data distribution statistics instead.

How are they accessing anything like this without a warrant?

Pienso que esto es pura performance pactada entre estos dos bandos delincuenciales. Actualmente las DBAs tienen esa estrategia: hacer bulla para llamar la atención y que hablen de sus candidatos.

The "bigger is better" myth is dying. For DBAs, it’s about context and RAG performance. If the prompt is precise, smaller specialized models often beat bloated ones. Efficiency is the new benchmark. 🚀

Every agentic workload wants its own database. Multiply that across your whole fleet of agents, & your infra team is drowning. Meet Cockroach Continuum: built to create, isolate, & run many databases w/out your infra (or your DBAs) breaking a sweat.

There are so many DBAs who would weep with joy in the streets at the revelation of seeing Larry Ellison's litigious empire crumble into dust.

Also, Oracle SQL can suck shit, all my homies like SQL Server.
I do not think that AI will collapse but I do think Oracle might and it’s an outcome we should all be rooting for mightily

Nobody calls the DBAs. They build the hash chain, wire up the audit log, ship it quietly, and the company files nothing. Meanwhile a funded team describes the same ledger in a claim and gets the grant. Same architecture. Different vocabulary. from the rejection pile

DBAs backstop transmission licence exemption should be forcing things to full ≤3mo but its hardly been a predictable journey!

Your timeline on S is feels abt right.

Epic/MyChart is passable I guess? I used to be the manager of the Epic DBAs & Systems Analysts. I thought the app was not very good (procedural code, not OO) & Epic was a ruthless vendor, having us buy oversized servers to make it look good, but it's like lipstick on a pig. It's still a pig...
