#DBT-Informed
A lot of the things that were used in the trauma-informed yoga sessions also incorporated other skills from more common therapy methods. Focusing on breathing and feeling grounded in your body tied back into things like DBT skills.

DBT is and I’m saying this loud and clear not trauma-informed. Let’s be honest, it’s built for something else entirely. When it comes to trauma, DBT just doesn’t hold the full picture of one’s suffering.

"ahh! after ten thousand years I'm free of interest on my student loan. its time to conquer back pain and remembering to hydrate!"
"alpha! rita's hydrated! recruit a team of elder millennials with trauma-informed dbt training!"
"ai-yi-yi! that's what I say, right? I'm pretty sure that's it."

With that said, here are 5 types of therapies that are considered particularly helpful for ND people...

- Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
- Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
- Acceptance & commitment therapy (ACT)
- Trauma-informed therapy
- Neurodiversity-affirming therapy

Absolutely true.

That distinct shift from cognitivism, which too often resonates like behaviorism, has been a life saver.

And it's a joy to work with folks as a DBT and person-centered, trauma-informed elder.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz spoke on the phone today with the Ukrainian President Zelenskyy.

The Chancellor informed himself about the latest Russian attacks and assured Germany's continued and unbreakable solidarity and support for Ukraine.

WISDOM, MEANING, & DBT WISE MIND: NOTES FROM VERVAEKE-INFORMED STUDIES

For John Vervaeke, wisdom is crucial for addressing the modern "meaning crisis," a widespread feeling of alienation and purpose-deprivation.

My intention: To share the "altar cards" of my deeper teachings here. Expect short bursts of magic, DBT-informed occultism, and links to the long-form "meat" on my Patreon. I'm back, but on my own terms. 🕯️

When I did DBT originally 2013-2015 I had weekly 2.5hr group and 1.5hr individual with homework from both. It wasn’t trauma informed but it did help a bit. The current DBT skills webinar (1hr a week in teams) is barely worth attending

as far as "processing" emotional and/or psychological "material" is concerned, making art about it is probably not as efficient as some other process i have yet to discover, but it's effective. (having a trauma informed therapist doing DBT also works but that option is currently unavailable)

I think the more appropriate thing would be to recognise a trauma informed response and neurodivergence. Alongside approaching trauma informed work first and then carrying force DBT. It would make sense to discuss trauma than go straight to skills.

The thing is they falsely put this expectation that DBT will somewhat recover BPD. Now as we know BPD is Trauma informed with the wrong diagnosis title/explanation given. Many therapists have carried the false narrative that DBT helps trauma/ie flashbacks etc; actually its far from helpful.

If these were branded as compassionate companions that were informed by strategies from CBT, DBT, whatever - okay sure. A supplemental “therapy” (depending on the data on efficacy)

This is not a replacement for psychotherapy

An augmentation! A holdover. A support.

Not a replacement.

no. stop.

Many people with psychosis want support to manage their emotions but it’s often lacking. It was great to talk about our work on DBT informed therapy adapted for psychosis at the BABCP DBT SIG AGM with clinicians from around the country. Further events to follow via the Society For DBT and BABCP..

They keep trying to force me to settle for it and I’m like, listen, I don’t just know that I need another round of DBT and EMDR; I even know why I need these in particular. My last (CBT trained) therapist assigned wasn’t even trauma informed. Sigh.

Yeah I was on full provision DBT. Group by teams on Tuesdays and one to one therapy on a Thursday. This was when we where in lockdown. Homework given is overwhelming- Skills don’t comprehend properly a trauma informed response alongside the aspects of people being neurodivergent.

The field is not doing okay. We tell people to go to therapy, and yet most of the population is not even informed on what their options for therapy are. CBT/DBT is not for everyone, and can even cause harm. Talk therapy often teaches people how to be introspective, a problem a lot of...

Dont trust the NHS with shit, group DBT wasn't working for me, I had a breakdown

What does the NHS do?

Decide I'm too unwell to be treated, remove me from the mental health service, tell me to fix myself.

FUCK THE NHS

percentage of severe mental illnesses (schizophrenia, schizoaffective, bipolar, PTSD, cPTSD) than in the general population. While I think DBT skills are very helpful, you can't CBT your way outta those illnesses. They need experienced trauma-informed therapists.

GP has done a re-referral to eating disorders but don’t know if it’ll be accepted despite being desperately needed.
And, I’ve already done stupid DBT skills and am even qualified to teach them (although wouldn’t, even the training wasn’t at all trauma-informed and massively triggered me)
