NEW — I’ve learned members of the DC National Guard were told they were being activated via a mass text message sent with no warning this evening, less than 24 hours before they were expected to show up.

Here is the full text of the message, shared with me by a DCNG source:

By order of the President of the United States the DC National Guard is encamped.

You are required to report to the DC Armory NLT 0800 12 AUGUST 2025. Contact your first line leader for the packing. This involuntary order is from 11 AUG 2025 to 25 SEPTEMBER 2025.

Individual orders are in process and will be retroactive to 11AUG25 with active duty pay, entitlements, benefits, travel reimbursement, & protections.

Parking is authorized in DCA lots 9, 10 and 3. Reply with the following number:
1) Acknowledge
2) No longer in DCNG

Appreciate the comment & certainly we are all frustrated with how this storm hit us. While bus stops & sidewalks are the responsibility of local jurisdictions around the DMV we have been assisting the best we can. I'd tag/call 311 for specific DC issues so they can clear.

I bet you amplifying this will spur actions at that stop. All Metro stops won't safe & accessible on Monday AM, though, despite ongoing hard work by @DCPW @DCDGS.

@NationalGuard in town to help Washingtonians dig out from snowcrete? Think of it like aid after a natural disaster, with a mudslide or earthquake.
