Though published well before the current AI hype, I would strongly recommend @elysegraham.bsky.social on “The Printing Press as Metaphor” in DHQ—the article unpacks how myths of Gutenberg & the printing press get deployed shallowly & ahistorically to prop up tech rhetoric (4/4)

Big news for @dhquarterly.bsky.social: every DHQ article now has a DOI.
Look for the DOI just above the abstract on each article.

🚀 💯 📢 The good folks at #dhq, the Digital Humanities Quarterly, did it! DOIs are here! 🎂 👏 🎉

I think we should all be posting a DOI to one of our favorite articles in DHQ to celebrate!

Here's mine, cough, my first and only single-author piece in DHQ:

@roopikarisam.bsky.social on applying The Questions of Minimal Computing to our present fraught moment:

1) What do we need?
2) What do we have?
3) What must we prioritize?
4) What are we willing to give up?

This remarkable fact is in #Matriarcha!

And Quiring 2024 also highlights the way Google Books is a similar unintentional imaged archive of (probably female) labour in preserving human knowledge

Thank you so much, Melissa. Do you remember when we first met? I could be wrong, but I think I met you and Julia Flanders when DHQ was in its infancy? After meeting you, and learning of DHQ, I made the decision to name my office "Office of Digital Humanities."

Re-reading Kari Kraus's essay "Conjectural Criticism: Computing Past and Future Texts" from 2009. Imho, still one of the best essays ever published in DHQ. Also a fascinating read in light of LLMs and the fate of textuality.
