The poor reliability of the DSTT (and the rest of the tunnel from Westlake to UW) is obvious, but the need for a second Link-only tunnel from Westlake to CID is debatable. DSTT2, as designed, would not be a more viable backup for DSTT closures than surface transit is today. That’s bad!

The existing DSTT helped grade separate it but also our terrain made that almost required. Light rail has pitch limitations so we kinda fell into the grade separation by accident. Maybe I’m wrong tho. The only stretch at grade really is South Seattle where activists there advocated at grade

might wanna see if it'll work with pico loader, then you might not need the dstt launcher depending on if you can flash it or not.

some day i want to get one of those fucked up carts with a CPU in it just for the novelty, but also i barely use my DS as is
this R4 knockoff is so old that the only way i can use it on my 3DS is with a DSTT launcher installed as DSiWare, but it does work, and feels more reliable than nds-bootstrap

I don’t have a problem with the tunnel…if it’s connected with the DSTT and the Ballard Line on an ALM system with radically smaller stations.

Pretty much nobody is going support shutting down the DSTT for years. It's core infrastructure needed to deliver service. There's not even an OMF (train yard) located north of the facility. If it wouldn't be feasible to keep the DSTT open while building the new lines, then the idea will be dropped.

I really doubt we're going to see any major changes over the next 4 years.
Trying to move the DSTT to accommodate some lazy people is comical. Making the region friendlier to pedestrians would be good.

i should clarify that in this dream we still built the second tunnel, and have track connections between the two tunnels in sodo. lines can feed from west seattle, redmond, and the south end into the existing DSTT and the new tunnel to ballard can receive service from west seattle and the south end

but we’re not destroying any track connections right? pardon my crude crayonning from literally on the train rn, but if we can upgrade the DSTT to better frequencies like balducci was advocating for, there’s no reason we couldn’t run a shorter urban service in addition to the 2 and 3 lines, right?

El fin de semana pasado desmonté mi NDS Lite para arreglarla porque el lector de cartuchos iba regular y el botón L tenia el muelle algo suelto. Ya está arreglada, el DSTT funciona perfectamente y he metido dentro 89 juegos. Es posible que vaya dropeando info de vez en cuando de lo que vaya jugando

The main and clear solution is to bring the CID storage track into use for disruption management, sim. to northgate's storage track, and to add in-station crossovers in the DSTT.
Lynnwood is fine, and does indeed have multiple track switches including one before the station.

They can test the bridge segment fairly easily, by comparison. If they need to do repeated tests there, that's fine.
The CID connection tests are much harder, requiring full DSTT shutdowns each time they need to do a test.
And that connection has been slightly harder to QA because of live trains.

It was going to be start of service to 1pm, including testing interlining at CID station. The DSTT would be closed to the 1 line during these hours.

This is the first major mech disruption since interlining began, so I'm not sure what you're talking about. Independent of this physical damage, there's def resilience work that needs done (esp. UW-Northgate & DSTT segments). As far as comms, they had a video out quickly and kept svc alerts updated.
