Some photos of my Arts Council funded Warhammer army, The Attendant Amora.

I feel I should caveat that none of this stuff is finished as having a final project or completing a body of work isn't the point of DYCP, it's literally just about developing your practise.

My DYCP app was successful! I am going to get some money for mentoring, and a writing retreat!! I am so happy!

No, not for DYCP, there's no end project or body of work you have to produce. It's literally just about developing your practise. I have a few friends who gotten it (not for Warhammer) and they told me that collaborations and working with other artists helps though, which I why I did the workshops.

Last week, I made cryptic mention of an exciting development in my creative life. I can now reveal that I've been awarded a DYCP grant from Arts Council England to develop my printmaking. I can't tell you how happy I am. Full story below:

Part of the next iteration is deciding what needs to be visible from the start, what can appear later, how much space people need to move their vessels, and how easily the whole framework can travel.

The first test made me want to strengthen that transition further: giving the making enough time and space, and making the moment of actually setting off feel integral to Sealegs rather than simply an introduction.

First proper look at Sealegs — my @artscouncilengland.bsky.social DYCP project exploring conversation, connection and neurodivergent experience through a handmade tabletop sea, participant-made boats and visual metaphors.

First full group test recently at Centrespace Gallery, Bristol. 🧵 1/3

Pretty savage that DYCP applicants got an email saying their decision letters are ready but Grantium is down so no-one can see them 😵‍💫

Applying for DYCP? We’ve got a template for that ✨

Always best to write your app outside of the portal cos Grantium is not user friendly.

Arts Council England DYCP access requests open today, can take 5 working days to sign off.

But wow look at that Project Grants lead-in time now 😵‍💫 Factor this in if you’re hoping to apply any time soon!

I am doing my very first DYCP grant application for arts council and boy oh boy am I glad to have hired my friend who knows how to do these! The application interface is a whole thing. I feel so British!!! 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

Just managed to get on to #ACE live chat. #DYCP applicants will be notified first BUT apparently ACE staff are still trying to figure out how to do this because they have always relied on #Grantium. (It's not rocket science, people, it's admin!) Might be next week now 😭
We want to reassure users, particularly those submitting applications or awaiting funding decisions, that we will be in touch with them later today, and we are putting arrangements in place so that everyone can access the services they need as quickly as possible.

ngl, I do wish there was something equivalent to the Arts Council DYCP, but for screen media (ie. tv and film)

The next round opens 14 March. Many creative practices are supported including visual arts & museums.

Happy to answer questions here from my experience for those considering it! It's been a wonderful opportunity 🖤

This time last year I was in Venice on a research trip supported by Arrs Council England! My #DYCP project was focused on development via my fantasy novel, Aquila.

I also received mentoring with sage, funny & fab authors @drstephencarver.bsky.social & @gavthorpe.bsky.social which is awesome! 🖤
