#Deterence
losing an election isn't deterence

imprisoning them & institutional reform is deterence
We will vote to rebuke him so decisively no president will dare such abuses again for centuries.

This is deterence. This is denial.
Western militaries must be looking at this and thinking, “Shit, we bought the wrong stuff…”

kinda mixed feelings about SBF. He poses no danger to society that justifies a very long sentence, but the deterence factor by making an example of a guy like SBF is much stronger for the deterence factor for someone who robs a liquor store or whatever bsky.app/profile/emer...
Also, as hard as it is to do, we have to realized that people like SBF also do not deserve 25 year sentences. I want almost everyone to have a shorter stay and more of a focus on reintegration. As tempting as it is, I don't think we should turn the carceral state on the people I think should go.

Made what I thought would be to final adjustments last night that would end in full deterence. NOPE

"deterence" is an odd way to spell "kidnapping and illegally transporting"

The thing about Kuwait is that it's a fucking miserable place to be. It's hot as fuck and your primary mission is "deterence" which means you are just there in case something pops off with Iran. All those MWR services exist only so that thousands of bored, hot, lonely soldiers don't riot.
During WWII the US deployed a Naval ship whose sole purpose was to make, store, and provide ice cream to troops actively deployed to heavy combat areas. Now you can't even have 9 ball

I never cared for Instagram for the longest time. I had a deterence to it even because I really dont like endless feeds. But admittedly a big reason why I've been so hyped to animated again is because my insta feed has been shoveling so much inspiring work into my maw lately. They got me

Maybe it will drive governments to get serious about defence spending, deterence is cheaper than any war. Is Polands spending going to be outdated as soon as it is delivered though?

Probably not much deterence in that since Hell was where they found the recruiting posters in the first place.

the number one factor in deterence isn't the severity of consequences, its speed of them

any school teacher will tell you if you can get graffiti covered up/taken down in the first 24 hours people stop doing it

Plus you're all pretty good at shanking reliably and on schedule. It's the deterence factor of consistent, quick responses! To quote an adjacent field, when one party member gets attacked, everyone rolls initiative.

Can civil lawsuits keep Trump's criminal element in check?

I interviewed two veterans of the Charlottesville case on how non-criminal litigation can provide deterence when the DOJ is MIA

Can Civil Lawsuits Keep Trump's Criminal Element in Check?
Jan. 6 insurrectionists pardoned by Donald Trump could still face civil liability, say lawyers who sued over Charlottesville.

W/o the deterence of strike back, it just encourages more belligerence.

If apartheid Israel wants help on defense, their offensive wars must end first.

Don't ask us to block while they're still throwing punch. That just enables aggression.

I like AOC but we remember the fake tears & present vote.

According to the World Bank, Italy has the same size economy as Russia and Europe has all the nukes it needs as deterence. This war has dragged on because of the US. Irrelevance on the world stage is inevitable.

"We won't help you fight the conventional war, but, if things go badly, we'll start a nuclear war for you!"

THIS IS NOT A REASSURING OR CREDIBLE STATEMENT OF EXTENDED DETERENCE. And Bridge should know better.

Canada needs to join this nuclear deterence initiative. Hopefully a part of the upcoming meeting with Macron in SPM.

New Mexicans are out in force to oppose plutonium pit production at Los Alamos. UCS agrees- it’s unnecessary, endangers workers and the public, and confirms US failure to move away from a reliance on nuclear deterence. I provided commentary and encourage others to do the same.

The debate over the last couple of years was mainly deterence by denial (via societal „resilience“) Now deterence usualy implicitely or explicitely means „deterence by punishment“: allowing state agencies to impose costs on Russia hoping this would decrease RUS hybrid measures in the future.

Deterence works before war...l

There is an actual war in Europe and USA is washing his hands.

Rules for thee not for me. Usa, Uk, France, Israel can all have nukes. All nato countrys can benefit from nuclear deterence via article 5, but no, no one else can have the same deterence lest they are able to deter capitalist invasion.
September 27, 2026 at 5:46 PM
Sure looks like a sell out, making $$ on other people’s misfortune or possibly addiction. They should be forced to publicize the low percentage of winners, but no that would be a deterence
September 22, 2026 at 11:02 PM
France has nukes and so does UK.
Canada might need them for deterence someday soon.
Just sayin'
