#Dicot
You are not actually IDENTIFYING the problems people have with this. Did you run the comments through iNat and get told it was a Dicot?

Me yesterday using Seek:
App: dicot
Me: seriously, I just need to know if this thing is native or not.
App: it's a dicot.
Me: thank you for this unhelpful information. What IS it?
App: I dunno man...bedstraw...dicot.
Me: Bedstraw? Wtf is that? (I'm a birder, not a plant expert.

While lemongrass and lemon both smell like lemon, they actually last shared an common ancestor ~160 million years ago (late Jurassic), when monocot and dicot plant went their separate ways.

In the plant world, there are monocots and dicots. This pink mizuna seedling has 3 cotyledons & technically it’s conjoined twins! Monocot has one embryonic leaf (onions, corn, rice, grass, etc). Dicot has two embryonic leafs (majority of flowers and veggies) Photo of dicot seedling from last month

I’ve been so busy and wrapped up in so much going on, that I forgot to update:

-My collards are taking off in their trays, but have no true leaves yet.
- My green onion seedlings are slowly sprouting.
- It wasn’t intentional, but I have a monocot (onion) and a dicot (collard)! Yay botany.
Yep, growing some green onions from seed, and some collards to try. My plant light is a heavy-duty one from me growing Korean peppers this one time. My ornamentals love it, but they need to learn to share the shelves now. It is time.

Crap I forgot the alt text. It's the Leeloo Dallas Multipass meme, but it says 'Leeloo Dallas Dicot' instead.

Just read the easiest way to understand monocot vs. dicot flowering plants: "Dicot leaves look like a net. Monocot leaves look like a highway." 🌿
