Courts are designed to answer small, narrow, discrete questions. But our current crisis isn't an accumulation of small, narrow, discrete questions, and trying to get the courts to solve it is like trying to empty a bucket of sand with a pair of tweezers.

I don't much care for mnemonic devices—I can't remember them, har-de-har-har but it's true—but "discrete" means separate, and the two e's in "discrete" are separate.
Discreet/discrete. I haven’t been able to come up with a mnemonic that helps.

the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.
Lmao is this supposed to be a bad thing?

As a writer who has gone through many, many discrete (and not-so-discrete) stages in his writing life I really feel this
Every once in a while I see some chud complaining I was a perfectly good writer until I started writing about politics and I'm all, motherfucker, I had a newspaper column where I wrote about politics long before I wrote novels, I was never NOT writing about politics, where the hell have YOU been

The discrete vibe shift was in 2022. That’s when all the elites totally caved to fascism.
It's like the US woke up in 2024 and decided that the next 4 years would be spent solely in blowing up their own wealth in order to escape taxes or some shit

i actually hadn't learned discrete math first so i learned discrete math from this book's one-chapter review of discrete math

it was difficult
it becomes increasingly abstract stuff like this and then you mostly switch into using turing machines as your formalism, you can backtranslate to a CFG but it's not usually preferred
