Median rent as a share of median income of renter households in major U.S. metros, 2010 vs. 2024.

Minneapolis is lowest on the list, at 29%, down from 30.4% in 2010.

I'd really like to see more posts from women in the Data Viz feed that Jacque has created and maintains. You have sign up below and then use the #dataviz and 📊 tag to appear in it.

I jus did a quick survey of the last 100 posts that appear there and posts by women only represent 20% of them.

It’s interesting that early #dataviz, like early arcade & video games, had not yet settled on standardized encoding (control) schemes.

This is my favorite graphic in the post.

Damn, it’s nice to see a climate dataviz that shows humans blasting past projections in a *positive* way. Last week I (belatedly) learned about @aukehoekstra.bsky.social's 2017 Twitter-famous solar capacity chart. Here's my animated homage. Read more here: www.jenchristiansen.com/climate/exce... 📊

The thread deriving from @mjskay.com's response to my post reminds me of good, old #dataViz Twitter. I miss this type of conversation!
I think this depends on dialect and audience

To me there's a definition of misleadingness (or maybe correctness) where if there are perceptual operations on a chart your audience will tend to perform and those operations do not correspond to valid data operations, arguably the chart is incorrect

Some good #dataviz discussion on the pros/cons on the usage of choropleth maps in this thread, and who has responsibility for clarity and understanding.
As much as I like lovely exercises like this, we need to stop saying that the choropleth map is "misleading". It can be misleading *if you don't know how to read it for the purpose it was created for*—to show who won were, nothing else. The problem isn't the map, but its improper interpretation.
🇺🇸🗳️ With the 2026 midterms two weeks away, I felt this election deserved a better map. 🧵

The monsoon is over, and almost 40% of the 74 major Indian dams are at their lowest late-October level in eight years. The typical dam is usually 0.4 m below full at this time of year, but this year it's 3.5 m. @diagramchasing #dataviz
