Apparently the proper term for the rocking I still feel after a week on a cruise ship is “le mal de débarquement,” or, translated from the French, “disembarkation sickness.”

The 20K is in Navy hulls (the 075/076 LHDs and 071 LPDs, also all the LSTs/etc), civ shipping probably plausibly bumps that upwards of ~75K total, but the civ shipping is gnarly because even the RoRos designed for at sea ops don't support disembarkation of AAVs as quickly as grey hulls w/a well deck
For those genuinely interested in logistics and sealift that would go into any Taiwan contingency, so far sealift capacity for the PRC is around 20k. In order for a successful invasion + occupation, you'd need somewhere between 300k-1M troops.

First ferry I’ve been on with a large supply of jigsaws (including a 1000-piece one of the ship herself) and screens constantly showing loops of open fires. All very hygge. (And importantly for my hygge, I’ve located the free coffee machine, vital for my 4am disembarkation on Tuesday) #Schengen200
