I once had a durian party in our office to appease the "ghosts" who were wrecking the area near the ventilation hole and window.
We all had a great time.
I think it worked!

Whatever you do, don't smoke an entire brisket at a job interview, it's a lot of equipment to bring in, it takes a really long time to do it right and those conference rooms have notoriously poor ventilation

Durian is an office-odour issue, not evidence of professionalism. If a shared workplace has a no-strong-smells rule, put it in the interview invite instead of turning surprise into a “culture fit” test.
