#Edicts
Soooooo, everyone: Just because President Trump believes that Executive Orders are Edicts From Above, does not mean WE have to believe they are Edicts from Above.

Our wizard masters no longer feel the need to explain themselves when they issue edicts to us

Not very often you see a new product that feels like major religions should issue edicts specifically forbidding it
Nightmarish idea for a startup tbh

That’s how you respond to illegal and nonsensical edicts

We'll know for sure that the Pope is a registered Democrat if he hires 1000 new Swiss Guards and issues a series of tough-on-drugs edicts in response to the GOP criticism
April 13, 2026 at 6:10 AM
Same goes for edicts issued by tweet or whatever they're called over on the site he's on
Note to editors and producers: If an executive order demands action that is illegal or outside of the president’s authority, then you should not describe it as ordering something. You should say it seeks to achieve some outcome and then note it is illegal or beyond the power of the president.

Here, @jilldlawrence.bsky.social has exactly the right word: Stalinesque. So much of what comes out in these WH edicts sounds like it was written in the Soviet Union in the 1970s.
"This one short document hyperfocused on the Smithsonian is just 1,150 words, but it is towering in its Stalinesque ambition to walk back history and whitewash America’s past." My latest at @thebulwark.bsky.social, on butchering truth in an edict to abandon it. www.thebulwark.com/p/trump-late...
Trump’s Latest Bid to Rewrite Reality
From the Smithsonian to statues, he wants to whitewash America’s past.

some nominal fees are one thing. But even the current fees aren’t nominal. The people should have free and easy access to the edicts of the judges who increasingly run their lives. This is bs.
New: The U.S. federal judiciary says it is going to hike fees to download documents from its online court records system known as PACER in order to accelerate the development of a new, more secure case management and public access system. www.reuters.com/legal/govern...

These are royal edicts not "agreements"
President Trump said Tuesday that he had struck a trade agreement with Indonesia, calling it a "great deal for everybody" on social media. Under the deal, U.S. exports to Indonesia would face no tariffs, while Indonesian goods would be charged a tariff of 19% when shipped to the U.S.
Trump Announces ‘Great Deal’ on Trade With Indonesia
Details are still scarce on the agreement, which the president said will partly walk back some of the steep tariffs he threatened on the country last week.

Yeah the effective community leaders are not the ones issuing edicts about who's a bad protester that needs to be excommunicated

President Biden has signed the stopgap funding bill. The shutdown has now been officially averted, no thanks to Republicans, and in defiance of Trump's idiotic edicts.

Shame on you. This is appalling. Even if you dislike this policy that’s going great, you should not be celebrating fascist edicts! Obviously.

Apple and Google kowtow to Trumpian edicts, yanking apps like ICEBlock that spotlight ICE enforcers' prowls, echoing Waze but for dodging deportation dragnets. #AbolishICE

I think you mean “arbitrary, unlawful edicts.”
February 13, 2025 at 6:34 PM
Sadly, this is not at all unusual. There have been numerous incidents where cops screamed contradictory instructions at terrified citizens and then shot them for disobeying one of the edicts.
Emily Heller, an eyewitness, is speaking out to set the record straight. Officers were screaming at Renee Nicole Good, “Move, move, move.”

So she moved, and they shot her multiple times? Then Noem and Trump branded her a domestic terrorist. Does everyone see how absolutely insane that sounds?

Exciting new edicts from The Gang of Six coming soon
In less than two weeks, the Supreme Court will be hearing oral arguments over whether the Second Amendment makes it unconstitutional for the federal government to pass a law banning people under a domestic-violence restraining order from having a gun.

He really thinks he’s a king, and EOs are his edicts.

He might as well sign EOs declaring his tan to be real, his hands to be large, and his businesses to be successful.
