Can vouch, I ditched Windows on my laptop 3 months ago. I've been just fine, even for work! I can capture gameplay at events in OBS just as well with my capture card, since the recent Elgatos have UVC and just work on Linux.

So I went through elgatos whole arse troubleshooting process and.. yup seems like the hdmi out has been broken all along. Yay.
Good thing I still have the old capture card which just occasionally loses the audio completely :)

Took some time to upgrade and redo setup.
Have to setup PC, clean up wires and set up Elgatos New ████ and new ████.
Also, need to find a new mouse mat so open to any suggestions on anything that could fit ascetically.

Just to add to this, as far as the elgato Nvidia noise removal is gone now, just use elgatos

I have multiple Elgatos and there's a mostly realtime preview window but even with the 4k Mk2 it's got a slight input lag and is prone to some screen tearing. Anyone used a switcher for PS3 recording and output to the tv from the elgato?

Setting up a Stream Deck to help with hotkeys, macroing effects, clip coloring for organization, etc with Davinci Resolve has been way more useful then id ever expect
I've actually cut my editing time down drastically.
my only complaint is elgatos lack of window 10 support for the wave link plugin

I use a portta multiviewer, but for this hunt I legit just had 2 elgatos hooked up at the same time!!

i like elgatos core equipment but a lot of their accessories have WAY cheaper alternatives you can DIY pretty easy

From what I can assume is power consumption, along with quality differences from more expensive elgatos. Not sure what would happen if you attempted to plug it into a PC, but it’s a great alternative that reaches current max switch 2 outputs for most games, along with a good option for non PC users

I haven't fucked with elgatos software in a while myself, but iirc you can downscale videos after they're finished and streaming would be easiest to do differently if you used 2 different softwares

So most you find will be on Amazon although sometimes they sell the alternatives at target along with elgatos let me make a short thread of two alternatives for you

Oh I've done that before I feel you. On Windows I settled with using elgatos software since you could connect over usb for sharing and video data but NDI is for sure a nicer output

I've gone through 3 Elgatos myself... They're not all what they used to be. A cheap alternative I'll recommend is the Avermedia GC311. Does 1080p60. Doesn't do much else, but it hasn't failed me yet.
