TL;DR: "Re" is a Latin word that's become an English preposition. If a substitute like "about" or "regarding" doesn't need a colon, neither does "re". It's just a two-letter word.

Also, that sentence is a bit off. Sted: " ... WHICH idioms or colloq. do LOTS OF PEOPLE get wrong?" (Can't say that "people" --implying all--"constantly" get smthg wrong.)
