Initial envenoming
I need to feel claws around my wrists.

I need hot breath on my neck, slick with saliva from sharp teeth.

I need mocking laughter as she enjoys my failing struggles and barely stifled whimpers of need..

Chains bound in place. Leather cinched tight as I’m brought to heel and readied for display.

Dolphins are known to "pass around" pufferfish, lightly envenoming themselves with its narcotic-like tetrodotoxin

Debate continues on whether this constitutes animal recreational drug use, but I want to ask a DIFFERENT question:

What's up with the pufferfish's skeleton?

Do not try to defeat them by becoming them, by envenoming your hearts, by being willing to violently bludgeon your way through.

Defeat them with love, cleverness, solidarity, planning, passion, imagination, innovation, flexibility, persistence, devotion: everything they want to stamp out in us.

Africa accommodates over 130 venomous snake species that cause over 500,000 human envenomations and approximately 30,000 deaths each year . However, these numbers are underestimated because many patients are not admitted to hospitals and data is lacking or sparse.

as part of the "envenoming" community - I survived a bite from one of the most venomous snakes in the world (sea snake, java sea) - and have lots of tissue damage that makes me technically handicapped. i'm lucky to be alive and thrilled at this news!!!
By combining 8 different nanobodies isolated from alpacas and llamas following immunization with snake venom - this research team has produced an antivenom that not only protects against 17 different snake venoms but also protects from tissue local damage, a major problem associated with bites.
Single antivenom protects against 17 different snakebites
Researchers immunized an alpaca and a llama with snake venoms, and combined some of the antibodies produced into a potent cocktail.
