Personally I think LLM's can be used for good but not with the current mainstream models like Claude, Gemini, chatGPT etc.
LLM's themselves are not the problem, its how they are trained and implimented is where things get bad not to mention all the envrionmental impact.

Adaptation of the food system is about growing different food in different ways, and because food is traded globally - and should continue to be - you can't come move to that new system without a trade policy component. Yes, I start from an envrionmental goal but you end up at the same place.

Both destroy the same things but AI will have had some (mild) benefits and crypto is just money laundering at the cost of envrionmental destruction.

GOOD NEWS Y'ALL

MI Supreme Court looked at the evidence and agreed, 6-1, as I think everyone should: that the MPSC Line 5 tunnel permit approval violates MI envrionmental law.

Not done yet. Goes back to the MPSC, we keep going, bc our #GreatLakes are worth it. ♥️💧
BIG NEWS - Victory for the Tribes, environmental advocates, and our #GreatLakes today - the Michigan Supreme Court has vacated a key Line 5 oil tunnel permit in a 6-1 decision!

Enbridge’s tunnel application now heads back to the MPSC. And we'll keep going until our Straits are safe.

They can be built in other places. We don't need them next to houses. We don't need them in drought prone areas. The costs for these centers needs to go 100% onto the centers if they want them built, and that includes repairing envrionmental damages. That is the bare minimum.

Hey it's bsky so I'm going to assume good faith at first: "dam problems" is an anti-envrionmental shibboleth that tries to distract and pass the buck. It's huge rains. Extra wetness in the air, from the warmness, from the CO2.

As long as:

#Education fails to develop our #deepquestioning & #systemsthinking skills

#Politics is tribal and puts 'debate to win' above #diverstyrich deliberative decision making

#Economics is manipulated to non-monetise, and thus ignore, many social and envrionmental harms

We will have this 👇

when it comes to voting most ppl have a single issue or two that decides abt their vote. hardly anyone has a bigger picture in view, hardly anyone thinks abt ramifications (no matter if the information abt consequences is on hand!). most ppl are not able to think through!

Legal shenannigans they used to gut the American envrionmental movement, but hey, blowing up the Murragh Federal Building wasn't domestic terrorism, just one sad misguided white dude.

See my earlier comments in thread. It would be a mistake to assume they do. It's like saying 'You don't think the turf industry takes carcinogens and envrionmental contamination into account when engineering?' when in fact the industry actively dismisses inconvenient research about such hazards.

Section 42110 TLDR

Sec. 42110 eliminates federal funding for updating EPA enforcement IT systems, halting both development of compliance tools and financial support for state/tribal integration. It could weaken envrionmental regulation oversight and community transparency.

Nuclear on the other hand requires large quantities of increasingly scarce water, which itself is an envrionmental impact and also is at risk of not functioning in high temperature days - something also on the rise.

yeah, but I feel like they didn't do it because it enhances the narrative, I feel like it's just their MO to go into obsessive detail about the functionality of the world now

That's madness. Why would you waste money levelling one park only to build another right next door? And that's to say nothing of the envrionmental impact of destroying a 150+ year old park. Football isn't the most important thing in the world, you know.
