Durable and reversible epigenetic programming of human hematopoietic stem cells as a platform for modulation of platelet function
Sankaran and colleagues establish DNA methylation-based epigenome editing in human hematopoietic stem cells and their progeny. Targeting ITGB3, they show that silencing persists through self-renewal and megakaryocytic differentiation to alter platelet function and can be reversed through targeted demethylation. Extension to additional platelet genes demonstrates broad applicability.

CRISPR is getting an upgrade. Instead of cutting DNA, a new wave of epigenetic editors modify the chemical markers attached to it, switching genes on/off without altering the genetic code itself. Safer, reversible, & showing promise in early trials

Big dogs age faster than little ones — rogue ‘jumping genes’ might be to blame
Study of almost 900 dogs from roughly 120 breeds finds that rapid ageing of large canines is linked to changes in the epigenome.
