#ExtremeWeatherEvents
As said in the replies, it is high time media started illustrating the negative realities of heat waves and not summery fun photos. This goes for TV presenters who smile as they talk about “sydney sweltered today, blah blah blah”.
‘Sydneysiders have sweltered through a warm evening as parts of New South Wales are forecast to soar into the low 40s today, ahead of a cool change.’

The shape of more to come. #Climatecrisis means more extreme days & nights. #heatstress

Another historic heat dome. Temperature anomalies that exceed the color table during summer is never good a thing - stay cool and safe from this unprecedented heat wave!

Sea surface temperatures in a key monitoring region for El Niño continue already at record high levels for this time of year. This is due to the long-term warming of the tropics (human-caused climate change), as well as the growing +ENSO event.

There has been a very sharp gradient in temperature anomalies across the #Arctic so far this year. Much colder temperatures have persisted over the Canadian Arctic and Pacific sector, while record warmth has occurred around the Barents Sea region.

Last month was full of climate extremes around the world, and it can be hard to summarize it all. Even temperatures for the #Antarctic region were at record high levels

Every second, $6,000 in fossil fuel subsidies are handed out globally. That’s $5 trillion/year.
Renewables? Barely a fraction.
We have 6–7 years to halve emissions. The industry has zero years of conscience.
Share if you’ve had enough. 🌍✊

Kaipara Mayor Craig Jepsen says the damage across Mangawhai Village was much worse than he envisaged.

Maybe if he'd listened to climate scientists and didn't stop #ClimateChange work by KDC, Council would be more ready for #ExtremeWeatherEvents?

What is expected to be one of our strongest El Niños in the historical record continues to unfold. It's very impressive how extensive the warm waters are stretching across nearly the entire central Pacific Ocean now, which is visible in last month's pattern

Honestly, this historic heat dome across the West is really hard to put into words for me. Temperatures over 110°F (43°C) in March, shattering all-time monthly records on multiple consecutive days, and not just by a little.

➡️ I can confirm this is human-caused climate change.

#ffagenda Australia #climatecrimes #unsafeair #extremeweatherevents - insurance companies know and old costly inefficient toxic destructive fossil fiel energy tech is like using dial-up internet tech. Also a breach of international law- #auspol
The BCA modelling completely ignores the costs of letting climate change rip: increasingly pricey rescue and clean up from extreme weather events + massive impacts on multiple industries including agriculture, fishing, insurance and tourism. #auspol www.acf.org.au/news/big-bus...
Big business still trying to hold back climate action
Modelling used by the Business Council of Australia to claim a strong 2035 target would cost billions lacks credibility.

This is a frightening map, especially given the fact that this is normally near the peak in snowpack across the West. There are many far-reaching consequences from this historic snow drought, ranging from increasing risk of summer wildfires to major water concerns.
