More young men were lost to aids than the Vietnam War, many of them creatives at the peak of their careers. Howard Ashman, Derek Jarman, Keith Haring and Freddie Mercury are some of the most famous but there are so many unknown writers/actors/artists/filmakers cut down before they even started.

I do NOT think all kids media made today is bad. But there are some trends unseen in older film that dont seem to take the emotional curiosity of kids seriously. Everything is cut like a tiktok/YouTube video and we are losing these quiet stretches of stillness filmakers like Miyazaki call "Ma."

The promise of Israel is somewhere that Jews can be safe, no matter what else happens in the world. The mobs and death threats against the filmakers and their families suggest that, under Netanyahu, this only applies to Jews who support the government and armed forces.

Nakadai was so much more than just a Mifune replacement in Kurosawa's final epics. He was a legendary presence working with Japan's greatest filmakers from the 60s to the 90s. I always love watching an older film and having him unexpectedly appear - as in Naruse's When a Woman Ascends the Stairs.
Farewell to one of brightest stars of the golden age of Japanese cinema: Nakadai Tatsuya, who starred in some of history's greatest films, has passed away at the age of 92. Major roles included those in Ran, Hara Kiri, Yojimbo, Sanjuro, Kagemusha, The Human Condition, and many more.

Imagine Amazon's War of the Worlds but with Chris Pratt instead of Ice Cube with a dash of kissing AI's ass in there and you have this film.
While not as laughably bad as that film, it shares a lot of similar issues that is embarrassing to see in theaters

There's also a noticeable disconnect between studios and young filmakers thats only getting worse. Collectively made Horror with dedicated fans is very prevalent online. Executives wouldn't know how to approach something like SCPs or analog horror which are what their core demographic wants to see.
