Syrphid Flies, Hover Flies or Flower Flies, whatever you call them they are my favorite flies. Beautiful, beneficial bugs that eat aphids as larvae, and only pollen and nectar as adults.

In Norwegian the official and more common name for hoverflies is "blomstefluer", lit. flowerflies. Which of course doesn't prevent them being mistaken for bees or wasps.
