dá pra codar o lugal lula no gdscript
Daily reminder that GDscript supports the Sumerian clay table alphabet, Akkadian cuneiform of ancient Mesopotamia.

This is perfectly valid code you can write in your game:

Today reading about AtlasTexture and how it might be able to be used in manual graphic and animation manipulation, using pure GDScript 😄

Here’s the other Atlas, found through a DDG image search!

eventually someone's gonna do this for all the Godot games that ship GDScript on the workshop and it will *not* be pretty

Learning GDscript is such a nightmare because google basically akira slides in front of any informative post I searched up to give me a (sometimes correct) answer.

There is no amount of words that I can explain the frustration of a failing Drunkdeer A75 keyboard halleffect sensor on my p key. Only remedy is to unplug & replug; release the game and be able to afford a new keyboard. ugh. It certainly is drunk.

i completed the gdscript mini course I mentioned on stream earlier :D yay, first steps towards becoming a game dev complete!!!

the for loops still throw ME for a loop but I think with practice I can do it for sure!

GDScript. As I'm making a game in Godot and we literally have zero previous programming experience.

Seriously I'm proud of what I've managed to learn in the past two years despite my limited capacity. But it still means I'm not very experienced at all.

Post #123: Godot Animation... in code?

Today I started looking into doing animation with Godot only using GDScript. I haven't finished this yet, but here's what the end result *should* look like (with Kenny.nl assets)...

very excited to try c3 so i'm putting this down now so i can see where it ends up landing (in order of preference, limited to "true" programming languages that i have used for more than tiny one-off things):

ts
gdscript
js
ruby
c#
python
php
java
rust
c (could probably be… vixen.zone/@era/117304…

Love2D was the first thing I looked at, but HTML5 export isn't there (only some old user made efforts). I see there's Lua compatibility layers for Godot too, but maybe a rewrite to GDscript would be the most efficient. Would be a nice way to learn Godot too.

I've used behaviour trees at this point for the AI, but found them to be way more effort, bloat, and boilerplate. So recently I moved to using raw GDScript instead. Runs faster, and it's easier to optimize and fix for my flow.

I found that the best way to learn how code works, in your games and stuff is to break it or see what happens when you change things around a bit... i changed a < to a > with my box function and it chose the furthest target. Seemed to click way easier.

yeah it's really frustrating but completely on brand for microsoft. was hoping they would have sorted this by now! i should really just bite the bullet and learn gdscript, i keep hearing positive things about it but i'm a creature of habit and just like c#

GUT lets Godot projects write real unit tests against GDScript, catching regressions before they reach a build. For a project with a system as mechanically dense as HM92's deckbuilder bout, that kind of safety net is worth having.
September 23, 2026 at 1:10 PM
The bout engine that resolves every HM92 match relies on GDScript staying correct through constant iteration. GUT, an automated testing framework for Godot built by Tom "Butch" Wesley, is one of the tools that makes that possible.

following the development of my godot eqs (gdscript), here is an example of find cover, i’m using los and overlap filters with a distance score

Important GDScript tip! Theres probably already a built in function for the 5 lines if code you just wrote!
Like pick_random()

having a DSL for your engine isn't deal-breaking, but the experience is negative enough for me to want to avoid it. i think there's also plenty of skepticism around the performance and "employability" of the language, which to me highlights an ambient distrust of GDScript for important code.
September 23, 2026 at 3:50 AM
godot-rust makes me feel better, but while the API is detailed and well-made, godot doesn't follow Rust's rules and the experience is more verbose and suffers for it. as well, there isn't full parity between what GDScript and GDextension can do, and the places they mismatch hurt a lot.
