Emails should include your name, DOB and NHS Number to assist your GIC admin in finding your record. If you have been referred but not been seen by a GIC, you can still contact the GIC you were referred to.

Btw the FIRST question that a doctor asked me when I asked to be referred to the GIC was if I have sex with men or women. At the GIC they asked about masturbation at least twice

Fun update to this little story: Despite my GP having an arrangement with the NHS GIC where the GIC recommends treatment and the GP provides prescriptions (i.e. a shared care agreement), I got told on the phone that I have "never had a shared care agreement in place".
I called my GP to try and get this fixed today and they said "no you go talk to the gic and see if they'll organise shared care" as if it's not a GPs job to send out a letter to the gic asking to initiate a shared care arrangement.

you see the thing is if GIC's stuck to asking ONLY the questions that were pertinent to being trans the appointments would go like this:
GIC: you trans?
you: ye
GIC: want hormones?
you: ye
GIC: any health issues?
you: no
GIC: dope. we will get that set up for you
you: sick thanks.

*For clarity it’s currently unclear if the cancellations are because of NHS Wales, GIC or individual hospitals, but Welsh trans orgs have assured us this was not a decision made by the GIC or by the Welsh Gender Service
