It's a LUA recreation of the game using the pokered decomp project as a reference

The only reason this guy uses "recomp" in the name of his project is because it's a popular buzzword that gives him more clicks

Sometimes there is a risk of ruining the original artistic intent with draw distance stuff, lighting, etc (Silent Hill Collection's fog come to mind, that garish 3D rendering in Gen1Recomp too) but a lot of what is offered also blatantly enhances a game by removing limits that got in the way before.
