So in more bad news, all game files i saved on my pendrive and googledrive got currupted, I was going back to a previous version, guess what, everything is broken, I give up on my gbstudio game, it is just not worth it, hundreds of hours of work gone, everything is going wrong

Andy Yen, the CEO of Proton, had a message for an employee in the company’s security Slack channel who urged the company to at least take a few days to pentest newly written code before pushing it live. “That’s bullshit and loser thinking. Of course it’s possible to be fast and secure,” Yen wrote in the channel at the end of August. “Stop thinking always of how to be slower, and focus more on how to be faster.” In a follow-up message, Yen reiterated his point: “only losers think like that.” His ultimate message for the team was to “stop lovingly handcrafting all our code and use AI more.”

On one hand I would love for this to be the end of our dependence on Google. On the other hand, I have approx 10 years of everything I’ve created to teach in my GoogleDrive and it sucks that they decided to ruin the good and useful things for the sake of the bad and terrible thing.

I’m starting to see discussions about the ethics of sharing fics on Googledrive because yes, I get it… much like reposting fanart, removing direct links to the creator is a bit rubbish.

But AO3 is GONE for 2-4 weeks so we’re all relying on downloads and other sources anyway.

@archiveofourown.org needs to turn downloads off now and when they get back online. So many people downloading fics and then reuploading them to cagey sites and GoogleDrive getting them scraped by AI WITHOUT authors' consent? Yeah, remove that option, please.
