Ten years after a 2014 agreement, the Indigenous-led marine protected area network in the #GreatBearSea is moving from promises to real action 🌊🤝. Seventeen #FirstNations are planning protections, launching ranger programs, and investing 🇨🇦 CA$335 million into conservation and local economies 🐋🌲.

Its removal wld also hinder the creation of a marine conservation area in the #GreatBearSea, a project our government has been actively developing with #Indigenous partners & the gov of #BritishColumbia ... protecting ⬆️ than 100,000km2 of this eco sensitive region.
