Each of the two thick-set, heavily-built Great Black-backed Gulls has a gleaming white head and underparts, a dark grey-black mantle and wings, and a powerful bright-yellow beak with a red blob near the end of the lower mandible. Their eyes are a hypnotic, icy blue with an outer red ring. Their grey legs and pinkish-grey webbed feet are standing on a flat grey rock pocked with yellow lichen, in front of a choppy dark blue sea.

Increases in these large gulls among others + many egrets herons + Grey seal feeding along this stretch of shore indicates #trawlerban is working 👏

Walked #Undercliffpath from #Brighton to #Saltdean this afternoon to check if the young seals were still hanging out on the lower shore ..
but all gone for now ..
still the usual suspects were still there which was nice 😊
