A true hero🦸

“Harrison donated blood and plasma a whopping 1,173 times, according to Lifeblood, every two weeks between 1954 and 2018.
Harrison's plasma contained a rare and precious antibody called anti-D. It is used in medications to prevent haemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN).”

💡 Maternal antibodies causing fetal anemia? There’s hope.
In early-onset severe haemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN), maternal allo-antibodies can lead to severe fetal anemia, often requiring intrauterine transfusions.
Enter Nipocalimab—a neonatal Fc receptor blocker.

他的血液中有罕见的抗体 Anti-D,该抗体能保护未出生胎儿免受致命血液疾病 haemolytic disease of the foetus and newborn(HDFN)的伤害。

Once someone has developed anti-D antibodies, future transfusions become more complicated. RhD-negative patients must then receive RhD-negative blood only. In pregnancy, these antibodies can also attack a baby’s red blood cells, causing Haemolytic Disease Of the Newborn, HDFN.
