MN State Housing Committee has adjourned with BOTH #HF2013 and #HF1987 passing the Housing committee on the way to the State and Local Government committee!

These rules were originally created to keep lower-income and non-white people out of communities.
They’ve done their job far too well, and it’s time to change them.

Currently cities require HOAs for a variety of reasons. A major one is to simply reduce the allowed density in an area. Often leaving land empty simply to reduce the overall homes per acre to half or a quarter of what might otherwise be allowed. #SF2229 #YesToHomes #MNleg

Question from Rep. Eklund - not a lot of smaller homes. Asking about types of homes that haven't been built since the 1960s.

Redirected to exterior of a house rather than the interior. The second bill, #HF1987 is directed to the zoning for starter homes.
