Mr. John, my HS physics teacher, taught us relative velocity and angular velocity and at the start of both lessons we were really skeptical. Then, after doing experiments, we were not only convinced but had a framework for thinking about the concepts. Truck video would have been cool too.

Mr. John, my HS physics teacher, taught us relative velocity and angular velocity and at the start of both lessons we were really skeptical. Then, after doing experiments, we were not only convinced but had a framework for thinking about the concepts. Truck video would have been cool too.

Okay no sorry this is like, recursively wrong. A work of art having "contempt for the audience" is not, like... it's not *wrong*. You just don't like it! Like, even within a framework where "has slurs in it" is a sin, rather than an artistic choice, "hostile to the audience" isn't equivalently bad!

That was likely the framework of the test I took in 2004 as a HS senior. When I started teaching AP it was already 2020 and it was... *gesturing with disgust* this shit.

My first exp being abandoned for being disabled (tho I didnt have the the framework then) was my Sr yr of HS & I had to be taken out the last 2 mos.
The school punished me (didn’t grad got my GED) and I lost all but one friend whomI still have to this day.
It was traumatic & took yrs to unpack 😕

I hid my disabilities for years. I was afraid of being judged, abandoned & left behind. I had to deal with my internalized ableism before I could open up about my illnesses.
Our society rewards the healthy and despises the sick. Ableism is a heck of a drug.
