But the thing is, HSPs (generally) are also highly sensitive to how others feel.

I’ve found psych material about HSPs (highly sensitive people) to be exactly as helpful as guidance about having autism—in fact often more, because it’s usually more specific to my autistic phenotype.

But seriously—So much actually does go unnoticed in the career of a nurse. The emotional toll, upon some rns—who are a little more highly sensitive persons (HSPs)—in time, accumulates. Eventually, causing too much inner damage..driving them out of the career field :-/

Incidentally, I see stuff like this as a huge reason why many people on or overlapping with the autism spectrum often gravitate toward similar concepts with different branding, like HSPs, empaths, etc. It does actually help communicate needs you have, but with less of the concept baggage.
I hate how effectively autism has been branded “the awkwardness disease” instead of a complex difference that involves a ton of serious disability
