Hardbacks are books.
Paperbacks are books.
eBooks are books.
Audio books are books.

The delivery mechanism doesn't matter. What matters is the enjoyment of story.

I'm a big fan of DnD, and I do not understand all the edition posturing & elitism.
1st is the best, blah blah 🤢
I liked 1st. Played a monstrous amount of 2nd & 3rd. Love 5th. They all play different. Have a favorite for sure, but don't confuse taste for objective truth.

If your library system or a library near is you throwing out books, call and ask to pick them up- say "especially hardbacks, i do art projects"

then keep them. for reasons.

I used to prefer hardbacks. But now I prefer whatever is the cheapest if I’m going to buy it… #booksky

My friend who runs an award-winning bookshop has probed the question: readers prefer paperback novels. So why are there so many goddamn hardback releases?
What's the point of hardbacks?

A thread on special editions, luxury books, and publishing history:

In 1903, J. M. Dent created Everyman’s Library, intended as a cheap line of hardbacks to make a classical education accessible as mass literacy rates were on the rise.
