Our first post here.

Tim’s newest work on the reactivity of phosphaalumenes is out. When P=Al meets it’s smaller sibling a unique B,N,Al,P-heterocycle is formed. Congrats Tim and Leonie!

A BNAlP-heterocycle
We report the [2+2]-cyclization reaction of a phosphaalumene with its lighter analog, an iminoborane, to give a species with a four-membered BNAlP-heterocycle with alternating Lewis basic and acidic centers in the ring. The reactivity of this heterocycle towards alkenes and alkynes is described, giving chain molecu

Asymmetric catalysis is very challenging. Here's a couple of screen shots of a proposal from my job applications, and the link is maybe the thing closest to it that we did in my lab, 6 years later!

Now online as an accepted article, a novel hypervalent iodine reagent that functions as a source of electrophilic "N". My first student, Patrick Kelly's swan song (now a postdoc with the Stahl lab), done in collaboration with scientists at GSK.
