Dutchies! I recently discovered this excellent (Dutch) #hextag podcast on the last witches of Schiedam whose trial brought the #earlymodern witch-hunt to an earlier end in the Dutch Republic. Definitely worth a listen!

Really enjoying this #hextag discussion. Wanted to ask @janmachielsen.bsky.social a propos this ep, does the coincidence between the renewed publication of the MM and the resurgence of the plague in Italy and Eastern Europe in the 1570s mean anything? podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/w...

Who knew there was a witch panic in Geneva in 1571? These incredibly rich and revealing witch trials have been hidden from view and deserve further research. #skystorians #earlymodern #hextag #16thC

For the #hextag crowd. We're here for another day so do let me know if I need to bring one back for anyone? 😅

If the devil appears as a horrible deformed black person to Europeans then he must appear to the Moors as a lily white Englishman - or they wouldn't be scared of him!

So argues Cornelius Loos in his delightfully sarcastic 1592 anti-witchcraft treatise De Vera er Falsa Magia.

Yo creí que ni siquiera me iban a responder el mail de la propuesta para publicar. No sólo respondieron, sino que unos meses después firmamos el contrato. Sale entre Agosto y Septiembre, pero la preventa va a estar disponible desde el 10/8 👇:

The second episode has just dropped! I'm on this one discussing the many myths surrounding the (definitely not #skymedieval!) witch-hunts.

Give us a try! New 🪄🧹🧙 episodes drop every other Saturday. 😊

I didn’t get to it at the weekend but this guerrilla-art-theatre response to the Epstein Files included a room called The Witch Files, with work from Naomi Westerman and Poppy Corbett. #HexTag

Missed this when it was news: in 2022 a bank employee was awarded £2 million in a case over equal pay and sex discrimination in a case referred to as “The Witch’s Hat”, because the harassment included colleagues leaving a witch’s hat on her desk #HexTag

Last class of the semester: one student told me my #earlymodern #hextag module was her favourite of the year, another said it was a highlight of her time at Cardiff.

A lovely reminder that the jobs matters. If only our institutions valued us even half as much as our students do.

Glad to see this out! It's a mighty tome, relevant to archaeologists, folklorists, #hextag peeps and more. And an impressive effort even if the functionalist argument doesn't always hold (I think, anyway).
