Today is #HiroshimaDay, marking 80 years since the devastating atomic bombing. My song Paper Cranes documents an emotional visit to the peace museum and an encounter with a survivor. Today and every Aug 6, I’ll donate any profits to a Hibakusha charity. sitenonsite.bandcamp.com/album/hirosh...

“Nuclear armed nations don’t think about it at all, or they ignore it. We #hibakusha [survivors] are the ones who know what happens, and that’s why we think they must never be used again.”

#HiroshimaDay #NeverAgain
Speaking at the UN, Hamasumi Jiro invokes the humanitarian cost of nuclear weapons — and the fading voices of survivors — as global powers continue to ignore the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.

Hiroshima Day reminds us of the terrible human cost of nuclear weapons. They are often described as weapons of defence, but their existence is also used to pressure, intimidate, and influence other countries.
