When I bought this house in 2002, I looked at the hotplates and wall oven and said, "Well they'll have to go!" I'm still using those horrible appliances to this day 😆 Well, I have finally purchased a new stove! I saved up the money and today I did it. A post-cancer gift to myself.

Also, re: air fryers. We have several reliable sources to the effect that Lovecraft loved fried chicken. And he did learn to enjoy preparing simple meals using hotplates in his own apartment in New York. So theoretically, if the air fryer had been available, he might have enjoyed it (speculative.)

For folks who are thinking about induction cooking, I recommend starting with an induction hotplate, which are like $65 at Ikea or wherever. Most people are really happy with the cooking experience and often move half or more of their cooking to induction, even with just one "burner" available.

Once upon a time we used steam power. The amount of water used was easily replenished. Data centres are like giant hotplates destroying waterfalls. The fact that they even exist is as insane as someone going swimming with cement shoes, which is what should be suggested to those creating them.

Kind of mad that there are no real commonly used standard outlets for split phase 240v kitchen equipment. It would make things like hotplates, kettles, and portable grills so much more powerful for only modestly more wiring. We should have these 6-20R bad boys everywhere
