It's #hotwetpitstop time for the #hotwetqueersummer jam!!! Because I've been consumed by other projects, I haven't made much progress with my short story HER PEARLS. But I am slowly chipping away at it. Recent victory was finding a poetic way to say "she nutted so hard, she got an orchiectomy" 🦪💦✨
Strings of pearls came cascading onto her tongue, bathing the muscle with sweet salt. She drank them all down, sucking deep, until one of the fruits balanced daintily on her fingertips was no more. Caught in her ecstatic high, it took Dottie a moment to register what she had been alleviated of. When the warm haze clouding her senses dissipated, a great shock colored her expression. Before Dottie could vocalize her bafflement, the god tenderly squeezed the length balanced on her tongue with her lips and intoned— “Now the other.”

I haven't written as much as I wanted to, but every little step counts. 8 chapters and counting (I'm pantsing, I have no idea of length, word count, nothing...), and I'll stop when Nikos and Samuel are done with showing me their love story. Here's a snippet.
His eyes went to that stressed young man then, his pale face. “Something’s wrong?” “Everything…” It came out as a breath. Samuel blushed. “Not here… with you… it’s just… I’m not sure I can live without my phone… others…” “Others?” A soft raise of his eyebrows. “Yes… others… you need others to like you…” “Do you like you?” Eating more, feeding the cat. “I don’t think so… I don’t.” “Then like yourself first. Others don’t matter.” “Do you? Like me…?” It had plummeted out of his mouth, clumsy, making his heart race when those blue eyes went to him. Nikos’ lips pulled up. “That’s not fair.” “Do you?” Almost choking. “Yes.” Samuel exhaled. “See? This matters… to me… that you like me… that…” “Why?” “You’re… my friend? We’re friends, right? Sort of… and I never had a friend, really, like you…” Eyes wide when Nikos stood. Samuel was sure that he’d throw him off the boat, soon… “Come.” Pulling him up, he pulled him to the stairs leading to the cabin. Down to that stuffy warmth, to that small kitchen, barely a few shelves and a stove, a ventilator giving some air, a small space with some seats and further to the front a bed maybe in that gloom… Samuel was lost a bit, breathless as they were standing close. “Oh… nice little place…” Words cut when Nikos turned to him, one arm going around his waist and back, the other under his chin. Samuel forgot to breathe. “You want to be a friend… or more?”

At time of posting, I'm 5,869 words into the manuscript and feeling good-ish about my chances of finishing on time (especially because I have most of August off work).

Been chipping away at my #HotWetQueerSummer Jam story, having fun hitting all the beats that kept springing forth back when I was too busy to write but the ideas wouldn't stop. For this #HotWetPitStop, Matthew is having fun with the vacationing queers who rescued him from a risky pitstop of his own

He takes a moment to establish his last known status, and that the extra large nitrile gloves and the scissors in his pack are for improvised dental dams. "Well, damn," Yolanda whistles, impressed. "You've got yourself in order better than some of the horndogs back home." She gives Harry an intent look. Harry becomes dramatically aghast. "Oh, the stories I could tell." And he does. The rest of the gaggle listen to opining cautionary tales until the campfire dies down 'til snuffed proper and Matthew retires to the tent with Lenae and Staci. Chapter 6. "Because the thumb is for your tongue." "Right." Dustin looks squeamish, looks for the next patch of huckleberries.

He heard her snigger beside him before she spoke, ‘He prefers to watch the pool in the daytime, the motel rooms can rot so long as they do it quietly’. Again, that unsettling feeling shifted in his gut before it was masked by sharp, shooting pains as they stopped abruptly at a mint green-coloured door. He leant against the doorframe as she bent down again to search for her key. This time he didn’t have the energy to avert his eyes, not that he could see much in the lowlight anyway. He wondered idly how long it’d be until the sun came up, his sense of time even more off track with the fight. Lucky that he wasn’t wanted at the ranch for a couple more weeks. Shame he hadn’t seemed to gain any self-control in the last fifteen years. The click of the door as it opened disturbed him from his thoughts as Ophelia’s arm came around his waist to guide him inside. Suddenly embarrassed by the attention as much as the helplessness, he fought against the steady flow of pain to gently push off her assistance.

Remarkable that we've hit the halfway mark of the jam! Draft 1.5 of Lifting Waits is almost done (my alpha readers are seeing this, hi I'm overdue). The HEA eludes me because denouement is hard to write!!

The room fell into the quiet hum of the AC and the steady melody of drums and strings, and Melody felt a shiver run through her beneath her frigid clothes. She thought back to the bulky beast shape that Rowen would shift into. The weight of them, the heat of their breath... "What kind of creature are you, then?" She allowed a grin to split her tusks as she looked over to the retreated elf. Slowly, Angler lifted her forearm, one vibrant eye peering out at Melody. Her eye rolled away, but her gap toothed grin spread from ear to pointed ear. "Y'wanna take a shower? I hate making a mess with it." Without waiting for an answer, Angler hopped up from the couch and stripped off her wet shirt, revealing absolutely nothing underneath. Despite his animal face, Key seemed pleased by their efforts, and leaned forward to nuzzle their snout. Blood smeared across his fur, but he paid no mind to it. Then he tore into the rabbit, making quick work of the meal. By the time he was finished, only a few scraps of its hide remained. He'd even eaten its bones. Bell stared at the bloody patch of grass where the rabbit had been, then Key's reddened snout. In the back of their mind, they couldn't help but wonder if Tae tasted more like a rabbit, or like a wolf. Bell had tasted the blood of a wolf before, a long time ago. Predators always seemed to be different, to possess a quality to them that prey never did. Suddenly, a flash of memory crossed Bell's mind. Their hands, dripping blood as they held a heart. A human heart. They'd ripped it from her chest with hardly any effort, tore into it like they were starving. The first thought they'd had when her blood filled their mouth was that she tasted like a predator.
