I completely understand Generation Z’s fondness for vinyl, cassettes, my 22 year old has a 1930s typewriter, it’s beautiful. But something that’s harder to explain is that 1980s computing did not distance us from the code. I had forgotten that I wrote my masters thesis on a 1990 IBM & in WordPerfect

Imagining a world in which IBM really went after all the B2B shit that actually makes Microsoft money and I don’t want to ever hand it to IBM for many historical reasons but they’d probably be less annoying to deal with and at least they have Red Hat.

I had almost forgotten about Twitter partnering with IBM way back in the day, which led to absolutely nothing happening

Pelo ritmo vai ficar só a IBM e a Apple vivas pq ambas não torraram o que não tem em IA
BREAKING: Intel, $INTC, extends losses to -30% on the day, now on track for its biggest decline on record. Not even the Dot-Com bubble or 1970s saw a decline in $INTC like this.

A friend and I were pining for the good old days when the most evil thing people could imagine was AT&T or IBM.

I had to create documents on an IBM Selectric way back in the day. So using a computer is "cheating" then.

I had an IBM thinkpad laptop that would immediately turn off everytime I walked into the datacenter where I worked. Turned out the faraday cage around the HD was missing. We scrounged one up and that fixed the problem. I think that’s my oddest “wha happen” computer problem. I did run Linux on it lol
