Primary school leaders! IDSR has just been updated to include provisional 2026 KS2 results. (Phonics and MTC to follow...)
September 25, 2026 at 1:14 PM
As we're returning to KS2 performance measures this year does that mean the progress data from 2022 and 2023 will finally disappear from the IDSR?
September 12, 2026 at 3:56 PM
Who’s included in your KS2 performance measures, and who’s not? 📊

It’s not as straightforward as you might think.

With the performance measures data checking window opening today, and a new IDSR on the horizon, now is a good time to recap.

Error in prior attainment calculation has resulted KS1 EXS pupils being classified as High PA. Will be corrected but not til Dec, which means provisional data (incl IDSR) will have incorrect group data.

Has anyone else got lots of gaps in the 'versus similar schools' section of the new IDSR? Not sure how we're supposed to draw any conclusions from it.

Pleased to see that the confusing multi year and individual year bar charts have been ditched in the IDSR. New format is much clearer.

Expected Standard descriptor for Early Years, p60 of Ofsted Toolkit.

In absence of EYFSP data in IDSR and without any statistical analysis of outcomes, how do inspectors judge if GLD is ‘broadly in line with national averages’?

Here’s an interesting IDSR thing. Disadvantaged gap grows from 16 to 17pp and classed as widening. However, in terms of no. of pupils gap equates to, it’s actually shrunk from 7 to 6 (ie no. of pupils required to achieve EXS to close gap to national non-dis). Helps to show gap as pupil equivalent.

@richardselfridge.bsky.social and I will be organising some of our awesome Databusters events to look at IDSR, performance measures, and use of assessment data in schools. Watch this space for dates.

Yes. Via DfE sign-in or directly via IDSR portal (I think)

Looking at an IDSR that shows ‘significant increase’ in results between 2023 and 2024, and yet the consecutive confidence intervals overlap. Can’t find guidance on trend calculation. Is it based on SDs? That’s how ⬇️⬆️ were calculated in previous IDSR.
November 5, 2025 at 1:21 PM
Good to see 3 year averages in the new IDSR. Particularly important for small schools and their typically spiky data.
