We had gone to a store and they had something similar but the price was high enough that I said, "I can build that myself." My grandfather used to build wood pieces for his home and add marbles inlaid. #woodworking #framed #mirror #ibuiltthis #craftsman #diyfurniture #marbles #inlay #crafts
A wall mounted mirror frame with cross pieces like a window. Inlaid marbles in honor of my Mom's Dad who would build pieces that had them. I also built the mantle below it.

My preferred side fill vocal monitor when playing in the band. I also built a set of four wedge stage monitors. An equipment case I built to hold a 2 rack-space powered PA head, and a single rack-space processor.

I built this Les Paul guitar back in early 2017 using quality parts. I didn't want to spend big bucks to own one, so I built it. Not a luthier because I order and assemble, but there is still a good amount of work that goes into something like this. #lespaul #customguitar #ibuiltthis #myguitars

I enjoy building as much as I do photography. Built this all-in-one amp box with compact portability in mind... turned out to be heavier than I thought. Has a sub-woofer at the bottom. Sounds good. #craftsman #woodwork #customamp #speakers #ibuiltthis #boombox #soundsystem #builder
First I built a sturdy box... dado'd and glued to make certain. Painted the face black and used a wood dye (yellow color) that made the pine turn a pistachio color (slight green tint). Mixer installed and speakers connected... including a downward facing sub-woofer. cabinet also has two mic holder (flex neck) bases built in on the top side. View of the back side... cord and power switch access and vent hole for PA power amp.

Wall mounted guitar holder made of birch wood. Design has a lip on the edge and a groove at the butt strap button so that the guitar cannot fall out. Most recent guitar build, haven't even posed it with a model yet. Purchased a set neck ES335 but upgraded all components... Grover tuners, roller bridge, pickups and pots too. Used wood dye for color. She turned out nice! #ES335 #customguitar #hallowbody #guitarkit #ibuiltthis #myguitars
Body and neck prep on the ES335 kit guitar. The back of the guitar body is same stain color as the headstock, sides are natural. Neck was glued in. ES335 guitar kit starting to look like a guitar. Still needed to make all the component connections. When I looked at the prices on fret leveling sanding blocks, I decided I could make my own. Made two of them with three different sand paper grits, and was still cheaper than buying one. The finished result, and I'm very please with how it turned out. Sounds great, plays nice. Now I need to find a model...

After installing the tail piece/bridge, I mounted the pickups, soldered in a ground plate and electronic components. Then installed the pick guard. On our apartment patio I built a corner mini aviary and had finches in it. The finches were well taken care of and in California the climate was good for them year-round. Had generations of them live there. #aviary #finches #apartment #patio #ibuiltthis #birdcage #california #birds #pets
My patio aviary for my finches made of redwood. Had a divider so that I could chase them to the lower half to clean or work on the cage, then do the same to work on the lower half On my patio aviary, my finches had everything they needed. The back corner had little nesting cubbies that were nice enough the many of the finches made little baby finches. I would often spend time out on the patio listening to the unique (like little quacking) sounds they'd make, and watch them hop around. To have the new additions (purchased pet store finches) acclimate to being outside full time, I would always do so in the summer so as the seasons changed, they could get used to it. I also made an insulated wrap that I'd attach on (rainy) winter nights when the temps got colder. I never lost a finch to weather conditions.
