"At the threshold
of melancholy
is a voice barely heard

a light wrapped in fog
and a piece of steel
longing for flint.

Strike it."
--"Fire Strike," Margaret Noodin (Ojibwe original and English translation)

This poem is an ode to our shared human predicament—both lowly and holy. May we bear it together with relish and reverence.
