Another big change: the ultra fast networks of 2022 have largely been overtaken by younger, better ones, all using the same technology (by which I mean charging hardware and interfaces). So Gridserve, Ionity, Instavolt, are not my first choice any more (tbf instavolt never was); 5/x

InstaVolt is the UK’s largest network of fast chargers, and over the past two years, nearly 1,000 of its charging stations (it has over 2,100, so nearly 50%) have been targeted by cable thieves. I hired an EV for a longer trip today. Very happy with the car. I had to recharge during the day and it wasn't a problem (Instavolt charger gave me enough juice while I ate lunch, and no app needed).
However, the Instavolt cost more than petrol or diesel, so definitely wouldn't be my first choice!

So, I drove up to watch the footy. Asked Google maps for a superfast ev charger. I was next to Rugby, it suggested an instavolt in Liverpool. Google search is going to the dogs.

A simple £10 a month subscription brings the price of rapid charging down to 46p Ionity, ~45p Tesla, ~50p BE.EV, or alternatively go to Instavolt after 8pm for 55p with no subscription.
