Living in the US I really get depressed. Carter, Gore had us heading to lead the world in renewables, then came the ‘oil-igarchs’ to get us into 3 Oil Wars. Iraq1, Iraq2, Iran.

They haven't followed rules and norms since Eisenhower. Nixon had Watergate, Ford pardoned Nixon, Reagan had Iran-Contra, Bush had Reagan and Iraq1, Bush2 had Iraq2, Trump is Trump. I don't think GenX has had a Repunlican party that followed rules and norms. Boomers were babies under Eisenhower.

As a Brit, sorry but that's total nonsense. I don't want the UK give the US ANY security assistance in relation to Taiwan. Zero. We did that in Iraq2 and Afghanistan and suffered 1000s of casualties and 10s of billions of dollars unnecessarily due to US lies and incompetence. Never again.

These vets have PTSD that is not being taken seriously enough, from participating in bullshit wars like Vietnam, Iraq2, and Afghanistan.
